Chasing Dreams
I think that in life the mission of all mankind is to make our dreams reality, as well as to be conscious of not creating for ourselves dreams which would be impossible to achieve. In my case I have had three dreams. The first: to fly. To challenge the terrestrial nature of man and thanks to reason go beyond our own natural physical abilities. The dream of knowing the skies. Seeing the world from the air. By seeing from the air the immensity and grandeur of nature and the forms and elements created by man to live and coexist with the earth my second dream emerged: to reconcile nature with man and his way of living, whereby I recognised that architecture was the element that intertwined these two concepts. So I became an architect. I wanted to make my own house. Knowing deeply the history of how man has lived and his endeavours while on earth. This is my second dream. Make my home. Inhabit the world.
From here arose the interest for my third dream: to create images. This led me to search the question of contemporary inhabitability, the same that pushed me to delve into cultural criticism and philosophy to materialise my projects. Through it I conclude the importance of image in the modern world and see how cities and buildings are altered through the way we inhabit them. Image is the most important concept in the world we are thrown into today. To completely understand this approach, I studied the new mediums of representation. Video, photography, Internet, animation and programming. All these mediums are revolutionising the inhabitability of the physical form through the elements of image. This leads us to a culture of inhabiting the image. Subsequently, publicity, video, script and direction of projects have become the focus of my professional work and the vehicles through which I continuously search for meaning in my life.
However recently, after working creatively in the creation of other worlds, the question of my place in the world has become one of the importance of what I do daily. Beginning a new masters course in plastic arts has made me face creation for the first time from the field of art. It is not a duty rather an insight into the travelled path to sketch a creative map. Presently artistic production occurs within the environment where I am working, and it is the path that guides the future of my writing and the creation of an image that speaks about the world that I constitute.
