On earth as it is in heaven
The thesis “On earth as it is in heaven”, is a reflection on the meaning of the heavenly and the divine in a technical and rational sense. To resolve the tension of the question, the only thing my logical thought took as a path was to look at the sky, as in the moment the augurs did to found human space. Recalling the story, in my capacity as an architect, all I saw as an exit was to look at the sky and look for meaning. In doing so, asking for the origin of human significance about the world around us, I immediately referred to the desacralization of the human world that has effected science. Seeing me clouded by the question, I also remembered the primordial horror that arose when in another aspect of my past, as a pilot, it appeared when entering the clouds and lost the physical reference of space, of the world. These two actions, that of looking at the sky and losing the reference of the real, made the question present itself. The question of the meaning of one’s existence, to find a place in the world, was autonomously conforming to the singularity of the path that brought me to meet the question. How to confront death, the only certainty of my life, as an expression of the anguish I had as a creator. The answer was outlined in the way of my life. But it is difficult to look forward as you look back. Time, not only atmospheric, but ontological was the matter that had to be solved. So when I speak of clouds or rain, I speak of death, as owners of the nothingness that builds my words, at the same time that it becomes plastic to speak of something temporary and evanescent. As I create the artistic work, I look for hidden gestures in heaven, to measure myself with divinity. The work, a sculptural cube that fuses with architectural spatiality, is on the inside a dissolution of space, which replicates the atmospheric phenomenon of the cloud. Inside the water vapor and the rain, the space disappears and transform the sky into a place to live and feel.
